Dr. Nguyen Quang Tan (Tan) is a Senior Scientist and Viet Nam Country Coordinator at the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF). He is responsible for developing and leading agroforestry research, primarily in Viet Nam but also in other countries in the Lower Mekong as part of the CIFOR-ICRAF Asian Continent program.
Tan received his Doctoral degree with highest distinction (summa cum laude) in Agricultural science from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany in 2005. He got his MSc in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Arizona in 2000.
Tan has over 30 years of work experience in Viet Nam and other countries in the region in program development, management and coordination; community development; capacity development; and research in development. His research interests include community-based forestry, forest governance, policy analysis, forest and land tenure, livelihood and poverty analysis, climate change. He has authored and co-authored over 80 publications.
