Dr. Tobias Matusch is a climate protection manager at Hochschule Ruhr West since May 2023. He leads a project to develop an integrated climate protection concept for the university of HRW, facilitating stakeholder engagement and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Dr Tobias Matusch is a dynamic and results-driven climate protection manager with extensive experience in environmental project management, research coordination, and academic advisory roles. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Greifswald (2010 – 2015) and have completed various professional development courses in GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and biodiversity conservation. He worked as development advisor for GIZ in Vietnam from 2015 to 2017 on the conservation and sustainable use of forest biodiversity and developed organizational capacity for the international master’s program in tropical forestry. From 2017 to 2021, he was a senior researcher and managing director at a UNESCO Chair, Research Group for Earth Observation, where he planned and implemented national and international environmental and climate projects, leading human resources and research management activities. He worked as project manager at Heidelberg University from 2021 to 2022 and, later, between 2022 and 2023, as project coordinator at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
